Make amazing, fluffy white snow from the dry polymer contained in this kit mixed with water.  My son took one of these kits to school for show and tell and it was a huge hit!

Instant snow is a sodium salt of crosslinked polyacrylic acid.  It is used as artificial snow on ski slopes and film sets.  It easily expands to 40 times its original volume or can soak up water to more than 100 times its own mass.  Industrially it is used for spill containment and as a blood absorber in hospitals.

One teaspoon (5ml) makes 40 teaspoons of snow!

This kit contains :

  • Approximately 50ml of Instant Snow polymer
  • Measuring cup
  • Medicine sppon
  • Zip-lock bag

Materials and directions to conduct the experiments are included, although some household equipment may be required.  Adult supervision may also be needed.

Why not get a little crazy, and add food colouring to your snow, freeze it, sprinkle table salt on the snow and watch it release all the water again.  There are lots of fun ways to play with Instant Snow!
